Importing drawings and images
Where DXF/DWG or image drawings of the building are available they can be imported into ECO-Engine. The drawings can then be traced freehand or by using object snapping, just like AutoCAD. Tracing speeds up geometry input and reduces to minimum any dimensional errors.
To add a drawing or an image click to the insert drawing or insert image button respectively. When clicked an open dialog will appear to select the drawing file. After the selection the user must pick an insertion point for the drawing.
Vector drawing such as dwg or dxf files, are placed in the "Drawings" node
and image files such as jpg are placed in the "Images" node
.
Drawings in ECO-engine are imported as External Reference. This means that a drawing must be associated with a reference file that has all the data of the drawing. This means that if the file is removed from it's location during the drawing insertion the drawing will be unavailable to the user.
The user can set a drawing to be visible or during the building modeling through its properties. Hidden drawing have a red cross in their tree node
.
Please note that all drawings must be scale correctly before tracing. More here...
