When drawing over an external drawing or image is preferred to hide any other building block to avoid confusion and mistakes in object snaps.

To hide/show all the building block double click on the building node. When the all the blocks are hidden, a red cross is shown over the building node.

 

 

Alternatively you can set the Hide all blocks property of the building node to Yes.
